Artist  Gill Ellis , nee Hoof 

Born in Glossop, Derbyshire and now live in Manchester.  I  can't recall exactly when my interest in Art began.  However,  I do remember receiving a beginners oil painting set from my parents when I was about aged 11.  The small painting just above is what I created.  I have kept it all these years, not giving my age away,  but it was in the seventies.. I received encouragement from my family especially my dad,.   I know I became interested in doing portraits because that is what I did at the age of 16 for my O'level Art. exam, a pencil portrait of Marlene Dietrich holding a cigarette.. I remember my dad saying "you must get those fingers right",. and yes I still have that too.  Over the years my love of art as always been in the background due to having a fulltime job.  It was in 2018 after a life changing bereavement and encouragement from a friend that I decided it was time to make this a focus and that is what I am doing today.   Better late than never!.  I am drawn to colour. so this is shown in my paintings.   At present I sell my paintings on Ebay and Etsy websites.  I sold my first landscape oil painting in 2018.  It was wonderful and I still appreciate every painting I sell like it was the first one.  I use excellent quality Oil paints on excellent quality  Stretched Linen Canvas.. I  offer a free special delivery service.  All paintings are delivered in a box securely packaged.  From the beginning I have wanted to offer beautiful oil paintings. and I love to hear the story behind the customers purchase.  My landscape paintings are of the lovely scenery and landmarks in the Uk.
